Foundations of the settlement consisted of estates of the town Kežmarok and a mill.
Nowadays, except of traditional agricultural way of living, work in the woods and industrial factories in Kežmarok, more and more people work in tourist facilities that were changing the character of the village since 1884.
New tourist hostels, restaurants, spa with a park and sport facilities were built after that time. Man-made lakes were used for keeping salmons and trout. In 1913 the settlement was rebuilt in order to be used for preventing tuberculosis of children. Nowadays there is a children's recreational centre with other recreational facilities.
In the village you can find lots of houses offering private accommodation.
