This is a small village with a nice view at the High Tatras mountain range.

The village was founded in the 13-th century. At that time it was a part of Batizovce district, but according to the documents from the year 1398 it was temporarily owned by the Spišský Štiavnik abbacy.

Majority of the local population were farmers. A sawmill operated in the village in the 18-th century. A lot of people emigrated abroad before the World War 1. From 1918 many people worked in sanatoriums, tourist facilities and industrial factories in Svit.

In the village, there is a Roman-Catholic church from the 13-th century that was built in the Roman-Gothic style and rebuilt in the Baroque style in the 18-th century. In the church you will find an interesting early-gothic baptistery from the 13-th century and a wooden painted ceiling from the 18-th century.

Close to the village you can find a ski lift and horse-riding facilities.
