The Velická Valley is 6 km long terraced valley, situated below the eastern slopes of a huge crotch of the Gerlachovský štít (Gerlachovský Peak) -which is the highest peak in the High Tatras (2654,4 m). It is characteristic with a huge basin in its southern slope. Above the first craggy terrace at the Velické Mountain-lake, there was built a mountain hotel called Sliezsky Dom (Sliezsky House). Behind the lake you can see the green marked path ascending through the sc. Večný dážď (Never-ending Rain) waterfall up to the grassed field Kvetnica with a slowly disappearing mountain-lake of the same name.
Along the Dlhé pleso (Long Mountain-lake) the path continues to the mountain-saddle Poľský Hrebeň (Polish Comb). There you can choose if you want to: 1. continue to the Bielovodská dolina (Whitewater Valley), 2. go through the saddle Prielom (secured with chains) to the Veľká Studená Dolina (Great Cold Valley), or 3. to follow the yellow marked path ending at the Východná Vysoká peak (2428,6 m) - secured with chains. You will be recompensed by a panoramic view at surrounding peaks and valleys.

STARTING POINT: Vyšné Hágy (yellow and red marked tourist path), Tatranská Polianka (the green mark), Tatranské Zruby (the blue mark), Starý Smokovec (the yellow mark), Sliezsky Dom (Sliezsky House).
