The Mengusovská Valley is 8 km long branched valley, very attractive for tourists. Its waters create a small river Poprad. Shorter hikes start at the Štrbské Mountain-lake (the red marked tourist path) or at the station (Popradské Pleso) of the Tatras mountain railways (Slovak abbreviation - TEŽ), where the blue marked path continues up to the Popradské pleso (Popradské Mountain-lake). There you will find a chalet offering board and lodging and a Symbolic Cemetery devoted to those (mostly professional) who died in the High Tatras mountains.

At the Popradské Mountain-lake the valley forks into two valleys: the Zlomisková Valley (north-east direction) and the Mengusovská Valley (north-west direction). The blue marked path continues through the Mengusovská Valley up to the Hincova kotlina (Hincova Basin) and the red marked path turns to the side-valley Kotlina Žabích Plies (Basin of Frog's Mountain-lakes). The Hincova Basin is surrounded by the Kôprovský Štít (Kôprovský Peak), Čubrina and breathtaking ridge of the Mengusovské peaks.

The Veľké Hincovo Pleso (Great Hincovo Mountain-lake) dominates at the end of the Mengusovská Valley. It is the largest (200 800 m2) and the deepest one (53,7m) in the Slovak part of the High Tatras. Through the Vyšné Kôprovské Sedlo (Upper Kôprovské Mountain-saddle) you can get to the Kôprovská Valley (follow the blue mark) or up to the Koprovský Peak (follow the red mark). There you would have a view at panorama of surrounding valleys and peaks. The Basin of Frog's Mountain-lakes is separated from the Hincova Basin by a southern ridge of a dominant (pyramid-shaped) peak Volovec. The red marked path passes the Frog's mountain-lakes and ascends through a huge stone slope (secured with chains) to the Dolinka pod Váhou up to the Chata pod Rysmi (The Chalet below the Rysy Peak). The chalet is the highest situated one in the High Tatras (2250 m). The path ascends through the mountain-saddle Váha up to the top of maybe the most visited peak in the High Tatras - the Rysy Peak (2499,6 m, the state border).
STARTING POINT: Štrbské pleso (The Štrbské Mountain-lake) - the red marked tourist path; a station (Popradské Pleso) of the Tatras mountain railways (TEŽ) - the red marked tourist path.
